About the Lodge

A Tradition of Excellence in the Heart of Dallas

Chartered in the late nineteenth century, Dallas Lodge No. 760 has called Dallas home for well over a hundred years. Our members have helped shape the civic, educational, and charitable fabric of this city — a legacy reflected in the schools, hospitals, and institutions that bear the names of the brethren who built them.

Today we remain a working lodge in every sense: a place where men of every walk of life meet as equals to study the timeless lessons of the Craft, support one another, and serve the community we call home.

  • Brotherly Love

We regard the whole human species as one family, and cultivate friendship without distinction of rank, condition, or creed.

  • Relief

To soothe the unhappy, sympathize with their misfortunes, and restore peace to troubled minds — this is the great aim of Masons.

  • Truth

A divine attribute and the foundation of every virtue. To be good men and true is the first lesson taught at our altar.

What is Freemasonry?

The World’s Oldest & Largest Fraternity

Freemasonry traces its roots to the operative stonemasons who built the great cathedrals of Europe and, through them, to teachings far older still. From those early guilds emerged a speculative Craft — one that uses the working tools of the mason as moral allegories, teaching its initiates to build not in stone, but in character.

An Ancient Heritage

Organized speculative Masonry dates to the formation of the first Grand Lodge in 1717, though the Craft’s symbols and lessons reach back into antiquity. Patriots, statesmen, scientists, and craftsmen of every age have called themselves Masons.

A Fraternity of Virtue

Masons are taught to practice the cardinal virtues — temperance, fortitude, prudence, and justice — and to apply them daily. We meet upon the level, act upon the plumb, and part upon the square.

A System of Morality

Freemasonry has been called “a peculiar system of morality, veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols.” Through ritual, study, and reflection, members are encouraged to examine themselves and live with greater purpose.

A Charitable Society

From scholarships and children’s hospitals to support for veterans and first responders, the charitable reach of the Masonic fraternity touches millions of lives every year — quietly, and without distinction.

“The internal, and not the external, qualifications of a man are what Masonry regards.”

Your Masonic Journey

From Petitioner to Master Mason

No man is invited or solicited to join the Craft. Freemasonry must be sought of one’s own free will and accord. If you feel that calling, the path forward is clear — and we are honored to walk it with you.

  1. 01

    Inquire

Reach out to the lodge. Visit us for dinner, ask questions, and get to know the brethren. There is no obligation — only conversation.

  2. 02

    Petition

When you are ready, submit a petition for the degrees, signed by members in good standing. A committee will then meet with you in your home.

  3. 03

    The Three Degrees

Following a favorable ballot, you will be conferred the degrees of Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft, and Master Mason — the lessons of a lifetime.

  4. 04

    A Lifelong Brotherhood

Once raised, the journey truly begins. Mentorship, ritual, leadership, charity, education — the Craft has gifts enough for every man, for the rest of his days.

Qualifications for Membership

In Texas, a candidate for the degrees of Masonry must be:

  • A man of at least eighteen years of age
  • Of good moral character and sound reputation
  • A believer in a Supreme Being and the immortality of the soul
  • Free of his own will to seek the light of Masonry
